Hi all, I can’t play my music offline. “Previously downloaded music is no longer available, but you can download All-Access Playlists to listen offline” is what it says. How to download Amazon Prime Music offline? – Matthias

Many Amazon Prime users have the similar situation since the recent Nov update 2022, they are unable to download their created playlist for offline listening anymore. An error occurs when trying to download songs offline. Actually, this is one of the impacts for the Nov. 1 Amazon Music update in 2022. In this article, we will show you what is Amazon Music update, how it impact Amazon Prime users and the solution to fix Amazon Music Prime offline playback error.

What is the recent Amazon Music update?

Amazon released an update for Amazon Music on November 1, 2022. It is big move for Amazon Music. In this update, Amazon Music’s entire library of songs opens to all Prime members with no extra charge. Now, Prime members will enjoy 100 million songs, previously, just 2 million songs were available. Besides that, Amazon Prime members will also get access to the largest selection of ad-free top podcasts available, including the Wondery catalog of premium shows, podcasts from CNN, ESPN, and The New York Times, and exclusive shows.

Sounds exciting? If only you are happy living with shuffle mode. There are also some limitations on how you can enjoy the songs.

Note: You can confirm that you have the latest version of an app by viewing the app’s detail page. If an update is available, an Update option displays.

How Amazon Music’s update impact Amazon Prime users?

Good news and bad news come together. In order to help you get a better understanding of the Amazon Music update, we sorted the info as below.

Good News:

1. Amazon Prime members will enjoy an increase from 2 million to 100 million songs, ad-free.

2. Amazon Prime members will also get access to ‘hundreds of thousands’ of ad-free podcast episodes.

3. Amazon Prime members don’t need to pay additional cost to their membership to get the benefits.

Bad News:

1. Amazon Prime members will be limited to shuffle-play mode, based on artists, albums, or playlists on Amazon Music. (That means you can’t stream on-demand. You can’t listen to a certain song as usual.)

2. Amazon Prime members will be pushed to pay for unlimited skips, as you need to skip more to listen to the song you like. Amazon allows you skip 6 times per hour only.

3. Amazon Prime members are unable to listen to their downloaded music in offline mode as well. (That means you can’t download the tracks you want offline.)

An exception: You can pick and play songs from All-Access Playlists on-demand with no skip limits, or download them to listen offline. The All-Access Playlists is curated based on your likes, listens, and genre preferences. You can’t create All-access playlists by yourself.

Amazon Music new update faces major backlash from users. Obviously, most of Amazon Prime members are frustrated. Here are some comments from Amazon users:

  • I would rather have the old 2M library and be able to control music order than the 100M library that plays whatever Amazon feels like. Grandy
  • Go back. No one asked for this. It’s terrible. I use@amazonmusic offline while I am driving. Woke up this morning to find I’m no longer able to access my downloads while in offline mode. I keep the app in offline mode and never stream. It’s become useless to me. Thanks @amazon Nicholas Moore
  • I contacted Amazon support and asked them what happened to the app. They said “oh now you have access to 100 million songs, but specific song selection isn’t allowed anymore.” I told them that’s not a music app, thats a radio station and then kind of went off. They ignored what I said. King_Buliwyf
  • Your music app sucks now. I bought music from you and I can’t even listen to my purchased songs without you forcing me into listening to something else. Switch it back to on demand instead of this dumb unchangeable shuffle. RubiksCubist
