Troubleshooting: Spotify Sleep Timer Missing?

 Spotify sleep timer not working
There are some Spotify users asking questions such as “is Spotify sleep timer gone, was Spotify sleep timer removed, why Spotify sleep timer not working” in the community. Since Spotify added the sleep timer feature in 2019, it remains there. If you found Spotify sleep timer is missing, try to perform each suggestion in the list.

1. Perform a clean reinstall of the Spotify app on your phone.
Always be sure that you have downloaded the latest version of Spotify app. For iPhone or iPad user, get the app from App Store, for Android user, get the app from Google Play.

Note that you can’t turn on sleep timer on Spotify web or desktop version. Because the feature is only available in Android and iOS devices.

2. Log out and log in of your Spotify account.
If you can’t find the sleep timer, we suggest you log out and log in twice in a row onto your Spotify account. This could sound a little bit odd, but this way the system will force a resync of your account in general.

3. Go to the Now Playing view
The Sleep timer feature is only visible in the three dots menu of the music Now Playing view. You need to select a song and then go to the Now Playing view. There, you’ll find a three-dot menu at the top right of your screen and once you open it, you’ll find the sleep timer.

4. Be aware of the Sleep Timer icon
The Spotify sleep timer icon may differ from music, podcast and audiobook. It happens that Spotify may change the sleep timer icon after some updates. For example, in the past, there was a moon icon when setting sleep timer for podcast, but now, it is a timer icon.

5. Disable Spotify Connect
My friend Tom experienced the Spotify sleep timer not working issue while using Spotify Connect with other devices and fixed it by disabling Spotify Connect. Please note that the sleep timer is not officially supported when used in combination with Connect feature.

“I just figured out that the Spotify sleep timer only appears when music is playing on the same device that you have the app open. When I connect to my Google clock, the option disappears and when I set it back to my phone the option reappears.”
